About UsThe purpose of AVIP is to build a community of professionals dedicated to advancing the industry and providing a forum for informational exchange of knowledge and science related to VI; as well as establishing a central resource for technology, guidance, standards, credentialing and best practices for both those in the industry and those seeking VI related services. The end goal is to help everyone understand the importance of the of indoor air quality/environments for a healthier life. The organization is a specialized venue focused on volatile organic compounds, methane, sulfur, and metallic gases, such as mercury. Initially, four categories of resource services have emerged: assessment, design, mitigation and continued stewardship (OM&M). The organization offers individual memberships in various areas of specialty disciplines and allows companies to participate as affiliate members. Eventually, there will be certification for testing and mitigation at both the specialist and technician levels. These certifications will require education, training, exams, and continued education credits. AVIP will reference and build upon existing standards developed by organizations like AARST and ITRC, as well as state and federal regulatory agencies, WHO and others. In summary, the AVIP:
